Let us know if you’ve tried the Steam Link app on Raspberry Pi, and what you think of it. But in case you’re interested, Cultist Simulator is made by Factory Weather, and there are currently some photos of a tiny kitten on their homepage, so go check it out. “Took less than five minutes before I was investigating strange cults from the comfort of my sofa,” explained Simon, as we all nodded, inwardly judging him a little for his game of choice. He even went so far as to copy and paste the short line of code via a Chromium search for the announcement, instead of typing it in for himself.Īnd then Simon just had to sign into his Steam account and boom, Bob’s your uncle, Sally’s your aunt, the process was complete. Higher signal speed means that the signal has to be given much more power to achieve the same distance as a 2.4 GHz connection. It took Simon all of five minutes to get Steam Link up and running on his TV. Even if you're using 5 GHz, what's the distance between the RPI and the router? A 5 GHz signal decays really fast the further you get from the router. Second, do you know if there is a setting for making Steam Link the priority connection on that router? I'm using a wired connection, but I still set it up from Steam that Steam Link should request priority connection since it's a local stream.

Having said that, how much other stuff is connected to that router? I'm guessing you have multiple devices on that connection. I've never struggled with Stream quality/speed usually having about 12 ms lag time. I've been messing with it recently and everything is wired. I built a PC in 2012 and am still running that same PC to stream games to my Steam Link. Regardless of how good your wireless connection is, a wired connection should trump it every time as long as you aren't using an extremely old motherboard/network card. From my understanding packet loss is a real thing over wireless.
